This is a surviving fragment of an antique 19th century linsey woolsey quilt. Linsey woolsey is a coarse twill or plain-woven fabric, with a linen warp and a woolen weft. It is a wonderful indigo blue

 

The materials in this early quilt are very pretty what a shame it is in such poor condition! I would fold it so you can't see these areas and place over a rocker. But I like the primitive stuff! use f
