This is a nice salt crock. It says hand painted Japan in black on the bottom. It has no lid but it has a hole for hanging. It measures 5 1/2 high up the back. The front across is 4 3/4. It looks like

It appears to be some sort of horn. It has a brass fitting on one end, and a wood looks like cap on the other. I have not attempted to open it because of the damage as can be seen in pictures 2 and 8
