Wheel is cast brass or perhaps bronze. Spokes are brass in the center and thread into the main wheel. The shaft and center screw are brass. The gear drive assembly is steel.

This vintage Dietzgen compass is in good working order. There's a slide closure and a button is pressed when shut to keep the needle from moving. It measues 3 1/8 X 3 1/8 X 1 1/4 inches. The finish is
