This is a beautifully handcarved scrimshaw (I assume it's a whale's tooth) purchased in Albany, Western Australia over 20 years ago. Albany once was an old whaling port. The scrimshaw was carved in in

 

This gauge is in very nice cosmetic condition. It is about 10” long. The gauge is mounted on a gimbal swivel which is mounted to a wood base. It is quite heavy, about 6 ½ lbs before packaging.
